Grafton House

It’s the urban chic that first hits you when you arrive at Grafton House. Some how it pulls off being all things to all people. During the weeknights the vast front of house with its comfy sofas and more formal dinning areas are turned into a club with a DJ and all the swagger of a cool cocktail bar. But at the weekend its gentler side comes out and the excellent rear garden with its rattan and wooden furniture and thoughtful multi tiered design provides a haven for the young families of Clapham.

On our visit the garden was swarming with toddlers and new babies alike. It is a very safe environment and thus relaxing for parents. Daytime offers a brunch menu where you can have Porridge with Raisins, Eggs Benedict or indeed a full English from £4.50. The lunch section of this menu also offered us Grilled Haloumi and Blood Orange Salad with Rocket and Spinach and a Roast Baby Beetroot, Goats Cheese Salad. Both were excellent with fresh ingredients and from £7. Also enjoyed was a Peppered Steak Sandwich with Fries and Pie of the Day – Steak and Stilton – both filling and presented well (from £9.50). The deserts were of a high calibre, we chose Apple Tarte Tatin and Chocolate Fondant (£5.50). Now, if you fancied a visit at night and hear latest club sounds they have a more grown up à la carte menu and space for a dance to boot!
